Midwest City High School senior Denymn Friday has been around football nearly his entire life, but his approach to the game remains rooted in the work he puts in every day.
Friday, the Bombers’ quarterback, began playing football when he was 4 years old. He embraces the challenge of leading an offense, particularly the split-second decisions required at his position.
“I play QB, and the hardest thing is blind anticipation,” Friday said.
His ability to make throws across the field is a point of pride, while improving as a creator outside the pocket remains a priority.
“I would say my strength is my ability to make any and every throw on the field I’m working trust my feet to extend plays and become a better run threat,” Friday said.
That commitment to improvement reflects advice Friday has taken to heart throughout his career. His father has been an important influence, encouraging him to pursue his goals with discipline and consistency.
“My dad is my big inspiration he’s always taught me if I want it go get it and to stay hungry humble and to be consistent,” Friday said.
Teammate Daidrien Jones helps set that positive tone, especially during difficult moments.
“My current teammate Daidrien Jones he’s a positive guy so when things are going bad, he’s always encouraging me He says, “So what now, what next, play, go be great!” Friday said.
Away from football, Friday competes in wrestling and long jump. Looking ahead, he hopes to continue his football career in college while pursuing work as a firefighter.
